This unique handmade Red Dragon leather mask with ram-style horns is a bold and fierce costume piece to awaken the Dragon within you. Wear it for Mardi Gras, masquerades, Halloween, fantasy larp (live action role play), or costume parties. Hang it on your wall between costume events as an eye-catching art piece.
The Red Dragon mask is hand-carved and wet-formed from a single piece of leather. Scales are embossed over the entire face, with details meticulously carved around the eyes, down the center, along the jaw line, and traversing the curved horns. The mask is dyed red, and dry-brushed with a dark reddish-brown color on the horns and carved scales to give it extra depth and dimension. It is sealed to protect the finish and resist moisture. This mask is lightweight and slightly flexible, and designed to fit the average face. The black organza ribbons are tied, not glued. The dragon's nose comes to a point approximately where the wearer's nose ends, which allows for easy eating and drinking during the masquerade (while a long-snouted mask would have to be removed).
I often draw inspiration for my mask designs from nature, and the Ram's Horned Dragon is no exception. I took some of the best features of horned ungulates and scaled reptiles, and combined them to make this stunning and fierce dragon mask.
In the Chinese Zodiac, the Dragon is a special sign, associated with power and wisdom. A five-toed dragon is a symbol of the emperor. Dragons are natural leaders. The Dragon is the only sign of the twelve that is a mythological creature and not real… or is it?
For role players, the Ram's Horned Red Dragon mask endows the wearer with a +2 Strength bonus. (Your game master may or may not agree, but who can argue with a dragon?) ;-)
